Chris Johnson
Owner
Since becoming a Certified Public Accountant in May 1995, Chris has worked for two of the largest “Big Five” international accounting and consulting firms. He has led consulting teams of over 20 accountants and consultants and has been responsible for project budgets in the millions. Chris has also worked for a local Fortune 500 company managing the finance and accounting functions for joint ventures, acquisitions, venture capital investments, and adjacent industry growth. Chris is currently responsible for managing the budgeting, forecasting, accounting, legal and management reporting disciplines, as well as business development, construction management and evaluating real estate development opportunities and other growth opportunities in the construction field.

Tom Dickey
Owner
As an Engineer, Tom has managed over $25 million in construction projects and estimated over $50 million. In addition, he has managed several projects for the fifth largest general contractor in the United States, including managing the historic renovation of both the Science Museum of Virginia and the old Spaghetti Warehouse into the corporate headquarters of Carter Ryley Thomas public relations firm. Tom successfully manages commercial project estimating and construction management for all Monument Construction projects. He brings the insight and experience necessary to handle all aspects of the construction process and is very active in new business development.

Fred Shorey
VP Residential Division
As Manager of the Residential Division for Monument Construction, Fred is responsible for all estimating, bids, contracts and sales for residential projects. Fred’s background in the construction business spans over 14 years as a business owner, general contractor and custom fabricator. His experience with architects and designers is a tremendous asset when homeowners are not really sure what they want in their renovation or addition, but are looking for some creative ideas and solutions. Fred is a hands-on manager who works closely with homeowners and Lead Carpenters from the moment the contract is signed to completion of the punch list.
Dan Hassett
VP Hampton Roads
Dan manages the operations at our Hampton Roads office located in Portsmouth, VA. After graduating from the College of William and Mary, Dan moved to Washington, DC, to begin his career in construction. Over the next 15 years, Dan worked on historic renovations as well as constructing new office buildings, churches and schools. In 1995 he returned with his family to his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia. Dan has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry including historic renovations, design-build projects, adaptive re-use and urban redevelopment projects. He is a LEED accredited professional, member of the Design-Build Institute of America, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, APVA Preservation Virginia, Congress for New Urbanism and the Urban Land Institute, and has served on the Green Ribbon Committee for the Virginia Beach City Council.
